I urge you...just travel!

Although, travel can be expensive; you don't have to go far to experience the essence of the message above.  It is by the American singer-songwriter, writer and activist Henry Rollins.

  1. I hadn't seen this before, but I love it. People, especially Americans (like me), are like, that's crazy... you can't just "get a backpack" and go to Saigon/Delhi/Bangkok/Kenya. There's the perception that it's this out-of-this-world idea that only the craziest/most courageous can do. I won't speak too soon about the worth of that perception... I'll find out soon enough when I leave in September, haha.

  2. Wahoo! You've broke my 'comment virginity', Lucie!

I always come over all modest when people say I'm brave heading off on my own, heavy backpack strapped to my back. I don't feel brave and I certainly don't feel I am the great adventurer. Much of it is circumstance, but a fair whack of it is a desire to see a variety of places around the world and to experience somewhere that is different to where I come from. It definitely helps me understand mine and my country's place in the world much better; something I think any person who experiences travel would feel is their best souvenir. Travel puts things into perspective.

All the best of luck with your trip! Please keep us updated here on how it goes!

Safe travels and, most of all, have fun!
